Protection and Advocacy for Voting Access (PAVA)

The 2002 Help America Vote Act (HAVA) designated that protection and advocacy systems throughout the country have a role in the enforcement of the Act’s provisions. This means that the HAVA Program of the Georgia Advocacy Office can respond to instances of voter rights violations based on disabilities, and also educate people with disabilities.

Below is a description of our planned emphasis for 2016 – 2017. Please click here to submit your comments, suggestions, or questions. We welcome your comments on our work throughout the year.

Goal 1: To ensure full participation in the electoral process for individuals with disabilities residing in facilities and congregate settings.

Goal 2: To train and educate election officials, poll workers, and election volunteers regarding the rights of voters with disabilities and best practices in supporting individuals with disabilities.

Goal 3: To provide education, training, and assistance to individuals with disabilities, promoting participation in the electoral and complaint processes, self-advocacy, and self-determination.
