Invitation to tell your story

The GCDD Storytelling Project’s goal is to collect 75 stories representing the experience of individuals living with a developmental disability in Georgia. These stories, accompanied by 6-12 representative photographs, will include at least one individual who resides in each of Georgia’s 56 State Senate Districts. These stories will be instrumental in the efforts of GCDD to advocate for Georgians living with disabilities. This is where you come in.

We are seeking Georgians with developmental disabilities (DD) to take part in this project. Parents and caregivers are welcome to participate along with the individual with DD. Participation includes completing an interview with the story collector, and having your photo taken by a photographer. The interview and photography session should last 2-3 hours. The story collector will use the interview to write your story, and the photographer will select and edit 6-12 photos that represent you and your story. GCDD may share these stories and photos with the media, elected officials, and other stakeholders. The goal of the project is to amplify the voices and stories of people with DD in Georgia. We are also able to provide information on advocacy, and offer a Storytelling for Advocacy workshop both in-person and online this fall.

If you are interested in participating, we will schedule the interview for a time and location that is convenient for you. We will provide you a digital file with your final stories and photographs. We can’t offer compensation for participating, but we can offer assistance like translation.

Have questions? Think you or someone you know might be eligible? Please contact us at or 470-344-6073. We would love to hear from you!
