Accessible Voting

Advocate In Your Community

Issue: You have just moved into town and decide to drive around your new community to familiarize your self with the surrounding area.  During this trip you stop by your assigned poling site and discover it is NOT wheelchair accessible.

What Do You Do?/What Can You Do?

Solution:  Contact the Secretary of State’s office by filling out a complaint form at http://sos.ga.gov/cgi-bin/adacomplaintform.asp to let them know about the violation.  Remember, some facilities used a polling sites may not appear accessible at first but are made accessible on election days through auxiliary means, including the use of portable ramps.

In addition, an individual may also file an administrative complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division by sending an email to “voting.section@usdoj.gov” or by writing to:

Voting Section
Civil Rights Division
U.S. Department of Justice
Room 7254 – NWB
950 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W.
Washington, DC 20530
