A Call to Action To End The Use of Aversive Treatments and Updates

 

 

A letter was sent in September of 2009 to the Office of Disability, Department of Health and Human Services; the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services; the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education; the Attorney General of the United States; the U.S. Department of Justice; the House Committee on Education and Labor; the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; Amnesty International; Human Rights Watch; and Physicians for Human Rights asking that the agencies organizations take action to put an end to the use of all inhumane and unnecessary methods of behavior modification used in some schools and residential facilities for children and adults with disabilities in the United States.
