The COVID-19 pandemic means more Georgians need help. GAO advocates are working overtime to meet the increased need.givingtuesdaynow

The world has changed immeasurably over the past two months, but one thing remains the same. GAO advocates are as committed as ever to ensuring Georgians who experience disabilities are guaranteed continued self-determination, protection from harm, and the opportunity to fully exercise citizenship rights and responsibilities.

As an emergency response to the unprecedented need resulting from COVID-19, GAO is joining #GivingTuesdayNow on May 5, 2020, in a global day of giving and unity.

If you’re reading this email you likely know the services and protections individuals with disabilities rely upon daily have been jeopardized in so many ways. Individuals who are already vulnerable or institutionalized are at extreme risk of COVID-19 transmission. With the demand for health care workers at an all-time high, staffing shortages have surged. Legislators and medical professionals have publicly floated the denial of critical medical care to people who are medically fragile. Access to care has become increasingly difficult.

As people everywhere are pitching in to support neighbors, we ask that you #Give5on5 ($5, $50, $500 or more) to ensure individuals with disabilities continue to live safe lives and thrive in our communities during this crisis and all year round.
